Privacy Policy
Effective: May 28, 2026
SidedWith ("SidedWith," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Virtugenic LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company. This Privacy Policy (this "Policy") describes how we collect, use, disclose, and otherwise process personal information in connection with the SidedWith mobile application and the SidedWith.com website (collectively, the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Policy.
1. Eligibility
The Service is intended solely for users who are eighteen (18) years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any individual under the age of eighteen. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a minor, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@sidedwith.com.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
2.1 Account Information. When you create an account, we collect a username ("handle"), display name, email address, and password credentials (managed via our authentication provider). Optionally, you may provide a profile photo and biographical information.
2.2 User-Generated Content. When you post a "situation," vote, comment, save, or otherwise interact with the Service, we collect and store that content, including the substance of your posts, your votes, your comments, timestamps, and metadata associated with such activity.
2.3 Technical Information. We automatically collect certain technical information when you use the Service, including device identifiers, operating system, application version, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, and crash and performance diagnostics.
2.4 Communications. If you contact us, we retain the contents of those communications and any associated metadata.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to: (a) provide, maintain, and improve the Service; (b) authenticate users and prevent abuse; (c) display your content to other users in accordance with your privacy settings (including anonymous posting); (d) generate aggregate community statistics and verdicts; (e) generate AI-assisted commentary on closed situations (as further described in Section 5); (f) communicate with you about your account, the Service, and material changes to our policies; (g) detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, or illegal activity; and (h) comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. Anonymous Posting
The Service permits you to post situations anonymously. When you elect to post anonymously, your handle and profile information are not displayed to other users in connection with that post. However, your account identifier is retained internally by us and is associated with the post for purposes of content moderation, abuse prevention, legal compliance, and the operation of premium features. Anonymity as displayed to other users does not constitute anonymity vis-à-vis SidedWith.
5. AI-Generated Content
When a situation closes, the Service may submit the content of that situation, along with aggregate voting results, to a third-party artificial intelligence provider (currently Anthropic, PBC) to generate commentary ("AI's Take"). Such commentary is generated by an automated system, is not reviewed by a human prior to publication, and does not constitute professional, legal, medical, psychological, financial, or any other form of advice. We label all AI-generated content as such within the Service.
We do not include account identifiers, email addresses, or other directly identifying information in submissions to AI providers. We rely on contractual commitments from such providers regarding the use, retention, and processing of submitted content. You should not include sensitive personal information about yourself or third parties in your posts.
6. Sharing of Information
We do not sell personal information. We share information only as follows:
6.1 Service Providers. We share information with third-party vendors that process information on our behalf, including hosting and database providers (Supabase Inc.), application infrastructure providers (Vercel Inc.), AI providers (Anthropic, PBC), email delivery providers, and crash analytics providers. These providers are contractually bound to use the information only to provide services to us.
6.2 Other Users. Content you post is visible to other users of the Service in accordance with the privacy settings you select.
6.3 Legal. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or other valid legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, the safety of users, or the integrity of the Service.
6.4 Business Transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, or insolvency, information may be transferred to a successor or affiliate.
7. Crisis and Safety Content
The Service includes automated detection of content suggestive of self-harm or suicidal ideation. Where such content is detected at the point of submission, we will block submission and present crisis resources, including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. We do not retain content that was blocked from submission. If you or someone you know is in crisis, please contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the United States) or your local emergency services.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may request deletion of your account at any time through the in-app account deletion feature or by emailing support@sidedwith.com. Upon a deletion request, your account, situations, votes, comments, and associated profile data will be permanently deleted within thirty (30) days, subject to information we may be required to retain for legal, regulatory, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.
9. Security
We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is one hundred percent secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. International Users
The Service is operated in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you consent to the transfer, processing, and storage of your information in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those of your jurisdiction.
11. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, port, restrict, or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at support@sidedwith.com. We will respond consistent with applicable law.

We do not sell personal information.
12. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication, session management, analytics, and similar purposes. You may control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may affect functionality.
